Journey through a Bright Night – a Board Game about Light Pollution

Having fun while learning, even if the topic is sad? My children Benjamin and Viviane, at that time 10 and 8 years, wanted a way to tell their classmates about light pollution. So we sat down and developed this board game. Travel with us through a night that is not as dark as it should be and experiemce artificial light from the perspective of different organsims. For some, artificial light brings advantages, for others it can be harmful, sometines even fatal. In many cases, we still don’t know how bright nights will influence animal or plant species – or microorganisms. If you want to know more, check out our info booklet with information on each event field. It also contains general information on how to reduce light pollution. All information given here are based on the scientific knowledge from 2024.

We originally created the game in German, but only 24 hours after its release we had a French version. Many more followed, all translated by enthusiastic volunteers from all over the world. Versions are now available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Hebrew, Romanian, Catalan, Galician, and Esperanto. The game consists of four A4 pages or one A2 page to print out. Put the A4 pages together to form the image below. Then you need playing pieces and a dice, and you’re ready to go.
